  • About Me

My name is Steve Bogner, a 40-something husband and father of two boys in Cincinnati, OH. Extremism - whether conservative or liberal or whatever - is something I try to avoid. The world isn't perfect, the truth is usually in the middle, and things are rarely as simple as they seem.

  • About My Blog

This is a moderate, Jesuit-flavored Catholic blog. I'll write about Catholicism, holiness and spirituality along with a bit of politics, social justice and Catholic mystics. I'm not an expert in any of these, but if you like reading about them, then this is a place to do that.

Catching Up

The past month as been quite a busy one in the Bogner household, and my lack of posting here is a reflection of that. There was the startup of school, out-of-town guests who visited for a while, and the start of soccer season (one boy plays, both are referees). Then my consulting workload increased - which is a good thing but it does cause some rebalancing in other areas of my life.

And maybe one of the biggest things is that my wonderful wife is now an actress in a local production of The Diary of Anne Frank. Rehearsals, and now performances, have taken a lot of time - but it is time well worth it to tell this story. There's nothing like live theater.

Wow it's been an exciting time for you guys! Give my congrats to your wife. What an amazing opportunity.

Steve,

Great to see you again. Sounds like you've been busy. That's great that your wife is in a play. Theater is great fun, and that is a terrific play. Has she ever done this kind of thing before? I used to do a lot of college and community theater. Now my daughters have the bug. :-)

Cura - Yes it has been an exciting time; these are good times!

Jeff - This is the first play she's done since elementary school. She's actually getting paid a modest amount for this one, and has auditioned for several other gigs. I am very, very proud of her!

Sounds like you're having fun, Steve. Just good to know all is well. I figured perhaps a business trip, but was beginning to worry....

Hi Steve. Good to see you in action again. Was concerned that suffering might have took a serious hold of your time. Maybe with two referrees and an actor in the household that might happen yet!!!!

The desire to perform whether on stage, on the field or in our community, I believe, is part of our manifesting the glory of God for one another. We all love to see God's glory in our lives. It is part of our purpose here on earth. It is great to be able to take part with other people, in an activity which supports our living full and meaningful lives.

I trust that the workload will prove good for you and those who travel with you. The famous "they" tell me that achieving the best balance in our living is part of our life long learning. We are usually too far one side or the other, like the pendulum on the clock. Too much work or too little. And like the pendulum we are perfectly balanced now and again and that can feel really great.

Keep the balance!

Patrick

Sounds like happy and full times to me. God bless that.
