  • About Me

My name is Steve Bogner, a 40-something husband and father of two boys in Cincinnati, OH. Extremism - whether conservative or liberal or whatever - is something I try to avoid. The world isn't perfect, the truth is usually in the middle, and things are rarely as simple as they seem.

  • About My Blog

This is a moderate, Jesuit-flavored Catholic blog. I'll write about Catholicism, holiness and spirituality along with a bit of politics, social justice and Catholic mystics. I'm not an expert in any of these, but if you like reading about them, then this is a place to do that.

Attentive to the Light

To the disciple who was overly respectful the master said, "Light is reflected on a wall. Why venerate the wall? Be attentive to the light."

Anthony de Mello, SJ

Is my allegiance to the person, the idea, the movement, the party or to the light that I see in each of them?

Excellent point.

I love de Mello. His brutal and yet loving honesty is always able to call me back to my Self and ground me in what real Truth is all about!

This has room for no shortage of contemplation and in my case, for growth.

This sounds like the "finger pointing at the moon-isms" :-) link

Sounds like a good Protestant critque of the cult of Saints ;)

Just teasing,

kgp

I love the though! Thanks!

I really enjoy de Mello. Thanks for this post.
